Does anyone know of a perl module or perl example of a quantitative text analysis. Such as comparing STR to an array and giving numeric results of its similarity to each string in the array. Such as is if the comparision is a difference of case it would score very low and a comparison where the strings did not even contain the same characters would be very high?

This is an akward concept. But I am sure there are papers out there on this subject. This is what enables large search engines to work. Please comment if you know of any. Thanks.

Well after two and a half weeks without my roomba, it is back. iRobot was very accurate in their 2-3 week assement for turn around on a replacement vacuum. The new vac came in a non descript beige box. The only thing it did not have was a battery. I plugged the old battery in and viola everything is running great again. I will let you know if I have any more problems with the second vac. If you read my last post regarding how my roomba broke you will understand that I do not think that the failure was entirely iRobot's fault.

So as you know I had a problem with my Roomba recently and as part of iRobots replacement policy you have to mail back your brush guard. I guess this is their way of trying to keep replaced units out of circulation, since the Roomba will not function without its brush guard. I have become restless without my Roomba and I had read at RoombaReview a previous report for how to create a replacement brush guard for the roomba red and decided to create a new one for my Discovery. Turns out that after I created my masterpiece I found someone else that had done the exact same thing but posted it before me. Darn it, check it out here.

I noticed the other day that my roomba was not picking up as much debris as it had in the past. After a little inspection I noticed that the main brushes were not always turning. It seemed that they had a problem starting but if I would nudge them with my fingers they would run fine until they stopped for some reason and then again they would not start again.

Now I may have actually caused this problem, because a few days earlier the machine got stuck under a low coffee table and it pressed down on the machine and may have caused the motor to burn out. But I have a cat and the machine really gets a lot of hair wrapped around everything so I thought maybe enough crap had gotten into the gearbox to slow it up.
